1.01.07 HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
01.15.06 There's a new short demo mix from the new studio project, the intro to 'Panzerfaust', up on the downloads page. Also, posted again due to some email requests, is the collaboration song from the 2005 Jason Becker Fund CD 'WMD'. Check it out all over again.
01.01.06 It's been a while since we've had any MOVIE news, but a new batch of tunes is scheduled to be recorded during the last three weeks of August, after Tony's annual pilgrimage to Disneyland. Dave is all over the place this summer with Dirty Penny...Clark County Fair August 9th and Skamania County Fair on August17th and again on the Saturday the19th.
On a side note, Tony informs me, off the record, that he and Drum Maestro Extraordanaire Kelly Dunn (Paul deLay, Lloyd Jones, Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts) are in potential pre-production for a series of possible shows where they may or may not perform some classic album sides in their entirety, ala' Dream Theater. They plan on considering opening it up for guest musicians and auditions at some time in the future. The first three albums on the table for consideration are tentatively Blue Oyster Cult's masterpiece 'Tyranny and Mutation', Deep Purple's 'Machine Head' and Maiden's 'Killers'. Any inquiries can be forwarded to email@example.com Please send 'Re: That Nutty Italian is rumoured to be at it again'!!
6.06.06 Check out one of the coolest things ever! Lining up on the Hawthorne Bridge in Portland OR for a once in recorded history photo opportunity, our own Dave "Speed" King joins hundreds in a mass Dio salute (or Devil Horns if you prefer) at precisely 6:06pm. on 6-6-06. Woe to you oh Earth and Sea!
The Horns Across the Hawthorne event was conceived and organized by alternative radio anti-Diva and total Bombshell Sarah X. Dylan and her amazingly talented and witty, but much less awe-inspiring, side kick RickEmerson.
Here's a picture, SPEEDY's right around there somewhere...
4.15.06 MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE has just put the finishing touches on some new demo songs for the new HITMAN STRINGS lesson CD Rom. Tony is providing more step by step, note for note lead guitar and slide guitar lessons along side other top notch guitar players from all around the civilized world. Check out the new HITMANSTRINGS.com in July for the trailer...
12.15.05 A big MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all, from the Movie boys and their families! Family is what the Holidays are all about, so get all the time you can with the ones you love the most! See ya in 2006!!
12.01.05 The remixed 'Little Princess' is among the songs chosen for the GuitarWar 2005 CD to benefit the Jason Becker Fund. All profits will go to Jason's medical expenses. The guys were proud to be a part of last year's CD (as well as the Tsunami Relief CD) and more than happy to contribute to Jason's cause again this year. "As long as they keep asking" says Dave, "We're happy to do our part to help."
11.15.05 Tony has a picture and nice bio and quote in the October issue of GuitarPlayer. HITMAN says "We were supposed to be on page ten, but then they put Yngwie on the cover and his ego pushed us back to, like, page 28!" There is a little interview up coming for VintageGuitar, too. Lots of cool oppurtunities are popping up from all the exposure it would seem...
09.01.05 The full GuitarPlayer magazine story on the GuitarHero contest is now slated to appear in the October 2005 issue. Don't miss Tony's part in it!
07.15.05 Tony will be a big part of the Guitar Master Class seminar at Morrison Bridge Music (522 SE Belmont) this Saturday afternoon. This seminar will feature some of Portland and Vancouver's world class teachers and players sharing their insight on the instrument. This is the last event at MBM in the old location, and everyone's looking forward to the new building after nearly fifteen years in the old spot. Tony will be taking part in the final segment on Technique Improvement and Improv Application starting at 5 pm. Also expected is an improptu discussion and demonstration of Rock and Roll Guitar Facial Expressions. Tickets are $12 at the door.
06.12.05 If you missed the web cast of the Guitar Hero event, the bad news is that Tony finished out of the 'money'. Big congratulations go out to his new good buddy Rodney VerBruggge for his great finish! You can watch the competitors' performances for yourself and judge the competition . See if Tony does any better against your definition of a real 'Guitar Hero'.
06.10.05 Catch the Guitar Hero 2005 finals via LIVE web simulcast on Cleveland.com starting at 6pm EST.
05.16.05 The big news this week is the Guitar Player magazine GUITAR HERO 2005 contest. Our very own friendly neighborhood HITMAN, Lead Singer / Guitarist, Mr. Tony Gaglio has been picked from literally thousands of competitors as one of the ten finalists for the contest! This is no little local deal either guys. Tony is up against some real heavyweights from around the globe, coming from as far away as Sweden and Germany. The finals are to be held at the new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio on Friday June 10th. To make the night even more exiting, the judges panel includes none other than guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Lukather! Check out www.guitarplayer.com for more details.
04.01.05 Let's give a big round of applause to our Tony HITMAN Gaglio on winning the BEST NEOCLASSICAL PLAYER award from GuitarWar.com, as well as ending up tied in the voting for BEST ROCK MUSICIAN with the always amazing Chad 'KAIZEN' Coggin. Well done Mr. HITMAN!
03.01.05 Though everyone seems to know everything before it gets on the board here, we are saddened to have to announce the departure of Tommy King from MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE after four fantastic years of goofing off. There is no drama, no 'philosophical differences', just a demanding full time job and the desire for quality family time. Plus the rehearsal room is out of beer, it's his turn to buy, so it was a good time to go. We will all miss that thunderous groove Thunder King has made famous here. Join us all in welcoming Paul Newman (Burning Hatred, L'Ace), stepping in to fill those monsterous kick pedals on the new CD.
12.14.04 Tony has his new instrumental theme song Miracle at Shea included in the MusicianWar 2004 CD. He also has a 'Team' collaboration on the disc that has to be heard to be believed! It's called WMD and man is it ever a killer! All proceeds from the CD go to help Jason Becker with doctor's expenses. You might remember Miracle was the Champ on several guitar competition sites including GuitarWar Pro War champion last summer.
9.01.04 He's been a very busy HITMAN! Hope you all caught Tony on Good Day Oregon last week... playing a Strat. What was up with that?! All those Les Pauls and he brings a bolt-on. Go figure. Anyway, a great time, several short spots bantering with the hosts, plugging the school, shop and the MOVIE. Even played them out to the commercials...next time he brings the whole band!
Also, catch Tony playing guitar for Traci London's blues band three weekends this month at the Crystal Ballroom, Mulligan's Nightclub, and the River Roadhouse in Gladstone.
7.01.04 Don't forget the Waterfront Blues Festival this weekend. Speedy Dave is doing his thing on the Back Porch Blues Stage Friday with Copper Penny, and Tony hits the Miller Genuine Draft Main Stage with Linda Le Michelet as the first act on Saturday. Linda's brand new band also features perennial Muddy Award winner Dave Kahl (Paul DeLay, Lloyd Jones Struggle, Duffy Bishop)on bass and percussion legend Bobby Torres (Joe Cocker at Woodstock, Tom Jones) Be sure to bring shades and sunscreen!
